1985 – 2019 35 ans Léiffrawëschdag
Comme souvent, quelques-uns ont une idée et à moment tout se met en place.
Au début, il y avait beaucoup d’improvisations. Au fil du temps et de l’optimisation, Léiffrawëschdag s’est développé pour compter parmi les plus grandes fêtes folkloriques du pays.
Chaque année nous essayions d’offrir des nouveautés aux visiteurs.
Au cours des premières années il nous tenait à cœur de montrer aux gens comment les fermiers, les vignerons et les artisans de nos villages travaillaient auparavant.
L’association Greiweldenger Leit asbl faisait, avec les recettes de la fête, des projets d’amélioration du village. De cette manière a été financé la fontaine du village, le toit du lavoir, …
2004 un grand projet a été entrepris. L’association a racheté une vieillie ferme et c’est mis à la rénover. En 2009 nous avons pu y mettre en location deux appartement et un gîte.
En 2015 nous avons inauguré la salle « Kieffer », dans laquelle sont organisé des expositions et autres évènements culturels.
Et depuis Avril 2016 tous les premiers mercredis du mois nous ouvrons la « Bicherstiffchen » ou tout le monde peut venir emprunter des livres.
C’est pour avoir permis tout cela que nous remercions toutes les personnes qui nous ont accompagnées et aidées durant ces 35 ans, ainsi que tous les sponsors.

5. calcination dans le four à chaux
Au Luxembourg le métier de calcination de la chaux a disparu depuis longtemps.
Le hasard a fait, qu’à Greiveldange nous avons pu , depuis 2003, présenter, expliquer et faire fonctionner un four à chaux déjà 4 fois.
Dans le temps, la chaux était utilisée pour construire, enduire des murs, mais également pour fertiliser les champs.
De nos jours, la chaux retrouve de plus en plus d’adeptes en raison de ses qualités en construction.

Samedi, le 10/08 : Allumage du four à 18 heures
Durant 5 jours le feu devra être maintenu jour et nuit afin qu’il soit complet le 15 août au soir.

1985 - 2019 35 years
Léiffrawëschdag
As often, some had an idea and they work on realizing it.
At the beginning, there was a lot of improvisation. Over time and optimizations,
Léiffrawëschdag has grown to count among the biggest folk festivals in the
country.
Every year we try to have new ideas to improve the visitor’s day.
In the early years it was important for us to show people how the
farmers, winemakers and artisans of our villages worked before.
The association Greiweldenger Leit asbl, with the recipes of
the festival, made improvement projects in the village. We were lucky to
finance like this the village fountain, the roof of the old wash-house, ...
2004 a major project was undertaken. The association has bought an old farm
and started renovating it. In 2009 we were able to rent two apartments and a
cottage from it.
In 2015 we inaugurated the "Sall Kieffer",
in which exhibitions and other cultural events are organized.
And since April 2016 every first Wednesday of the month we open the
"Bicherstiffchen" where everyone can come
and borrow books.
For allowing all this we want to thank all the persons who have helped
us over these 35 years, as well as all our sponsors.

5. lime burning
In Luxembourg the lime burning business has disappeared since long.
As luck would have it, in Greiveldange we have been able, since 2003, to
present, explain and operate a lime kiln for four times already.
In time, lime was used to build, coat walls, but also to fertilize
fields.
Nowadays, lime finds more and more followers because of its qualities in
construction.
Join us for this 5. edition.
Saturday, the 10/08: enkindling the lime kiln at 18 hours
For 5 days the fire will have to be maintained day and night so that the
process is complete by the evening of August 15th.
